Hi All,

We have a client with a default install of V18.0 with Update 5 using the latest Debian ISO, where there appears to be an 'error' in the 'Welcome Email' template.

We are as sure as we can be, that nobody has made any changes (yet), but if we go to:

Settings - System - Email - Email Templates - Extension Welcome

there are 'errors' showing on lines 90 and 93 stating:

'Unexpected character after attribute value'

Is that something specific to this instance, or do others see the same thing?

We *were* going to fix the welcome email to stop it pointing to the old v16 Windows Application, but have not edited it pending confirmation here.

Thanks,

Alan.

Has the Welcome email been previously modified?

Hi Theodoros,

Has the Welcome email been previously modified?

As far as I know, it has never been touched. The system was only just installed, and only two of us have access to the Management Console, and neither of us has been into the 'Email Templates' until I went there today as I noted above.

Thanks,

Alan.

Hi,

To be absolutely sure, I just created a completely brand new 3CX instance.

I created a new VM, downloaded the Debian ISO from 3cx.com (Debian 10.11) and installed 3CX (Version 18.0 - Update 5 - Build 418 as it reports itself to be after running the initial config).

I then went to:

Settings - System - Email - Email Templates - Extension Welcome

the same 'errors' are showing on lines 90 and 93 stating:

'Unexpected character after attribute value'

That would seem to indicate there is something wrong in the current build (418)?

Thanks,

Alan.

Regarding your question, There is nothing wrong with the build, we have reported the line spacing on these lines to the relevant department, but this should not cause any issues with the welcome emails.

As mentioned, you may modify the template to remove the appearance of the legacy windows app if you wish.

Hi Charles,

Good to know that there is nothing wrong with Build 418 and that you have reported those non-problems to the programming team to fix (or not if the errors are there on purpose perhaps).

You will have noted in my original post that I did not suggest there there were any issues with the 'welcome emails' (with the possible exception of the ongoing encouragement for users to install the old Windows v16 application, rather than the new v18 application). Presumably, this is also a deliberate choice within Build 418 (and prior v18 builds), and does not represent any kind of error or oversight.

For what it is worth, I have now confirmed the existence of the errors (or non-errors) in at least ten separate customers' 3CX installs.

I apologise for having wasted your time in bringing these errors that are not errors to your attention - I will try to avoid doing so in the future.

Thanks,

Alan.

Hi Alan, it’s never a bother and is exactly what we are here for. We always appreciate the feedback and welcome it I’m fact.

The lines spacing issue in the welcome email template has been reported to the relevant department to be fixed in a future update.

Regarding the legacy app this is still available to be downloaded, installed and used and is linked in the template but you are welcome to modify your welcome email templates so suit your needs.
