Normally with every new update to 3CX the desktop app will ask to do an update when loading or resuming on the day the PBX is updated. But I've seen some installs in our tenant that aren't asking to update even after restarting the app and workstation. Is the update process changed now?

Hi Nate,

Once the system updates and receives the new app, the users will at some point see a little pop up message asking the to update it.
This is the same as before, and they should end up with 18.12.416

Hi John,

This is what I'm expecting - it has been immediate in the past. But even my extension still hasn't popped up with the update but some others have in my deployment. Has this mechanism changed so that it checks for a new version less frequently?

Not that I'm aware and when I tested mine hear it updated automatically the next time it reconnected after the PBX update or after I relaunched the app. What version of the app are you running currently by the way?

I'm running 18.11.1213 - I should note that I did reinstall this version a little while ago with an automation tool we're testing and did use the "ALLUSERS=1" flag. Perhaps installing it for all users changes the update mechanism?

I should also note I'm not the only one not updating in our org's setup (I haven't looked at other clients yet), and those installs are done conventionally.

FWIW, when our server updated, after several minutes my client didn't self-update even after clicking around a bit, but it did after closing (from the tray icon) and reopening.

That's probably it. We keep the app in user space and I suspect you may be overriding it's ability to update by installing it for all users because it doesn't have the rights.

Please install it per user, the same it would have installed if a regular user had ran the setup manually where it would end up in C:\Users\{your name}\AppData\Local\Programs\3CXDesktopApp and confirm that the problem has gone away.
