I have a customer that wants to be able to have someone enter the first few letters of a users first or last name to find them in the directory.

We have devised a work-a-round where we created an additional extension for each user, then reversed the first/last name. We then have the "dummy" extension forward permanently to the real extension. The last piece of this is to change the prompt UserName.wav to reflect the ability to enter a few letters of the first or last name.

Has anyone been successful replacing a prompt file? (We are having trouble recording at a high enough quality to match the built-in prompts.)

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Try this reader (and replace text with what what you want):
http://www.linguatec.de/vrweb/popup1_ptonline?dir=0&srctext=Hello,%20please%20dial%20extension%20number&lang=EG&guilang=en&readcontent=all&srctype=text&srccharset=utf8&customerid=00000102&cache=0&sndpitch=100&sndspeed=100&sndtype=1&sndquality=4&sndgender=W&simpleparse=1

Unfortunately, you can't download the audio file currently, but still you can record audio in other means.

Last time we did this work around we just recorded over the phone - Never thought the prompts were high quality anyway. PCM, 8kHz, 16bit, mono = not high quality

You must record prompts into or convert them to PCM, 16-bit, 8 kHz, mono to ensure compatibility with various phone systems.
