Good Morning Colleagues
I hope you are doing good and safe.

My 3CX IP PBX is connected to multiple gateways and i need once a call received by 3CX from any gateway , The caller will hear a dial tone generated by 3CX where the caller can either dial internal 3CX extension or external number,

How can i do this in 3CX?

Best Regards

What it sounds like you are trying to achieve is a DISA (Direct Inward System Access) trunk. 3CX is not capable of implementing one, on it's own. Users can call in to their voicemail, then dial back out again through the menu, and as mentioned above, callers can dial extensions directly, but not outside calls.

If you are talking about random callers, dialling through your PBX, and out again, then you also require some sort of security (PIN number?) to prevent fraudulent calls. I've seen Gateways (The SPA3102 is one) , in the past, that are capable of doing this, but you would have to configure it to your requirements, and there are still going to be limitations.

Perhaps you can provide more detail, on how you expect this to work for you.

Good Morning John
Thx for your replay . I applied this and it is partially successful . From analog phone connected to gateway 1 , I can call digital receptionist then call any 3CX extension successfully.

The other scenario still not successful . What is required that the analog phone connected to gateway 1, can dial the digital receptionist then be able to call external number not 3CX extension . I tried this but failed.

Does the above scenario is applicable by 3CX ?

Best Regards

Good Morning Leejor
Thanks for your detailed replay . What is required exactly is connecting 3CX to multiple PSTN gateways where each gateway will have analog phones connected to its FXS ports . What is required that 3CX will be able to route calls between analog phones on different gateways connected to it . Is this applicable ?

Best Regards

Well...PSTN Gateways have have FXO ports (Yes, yes, there are some that also have FXS ports, but...). So, I assume you are talking about "outside" callers, dialling your PSTN numbers from analogue sets, then dialling back out to another PSTN number?

You need to clarify exactly, what you are trying to achieve (give a scenario).

Hello Leejor
Bellow are the details:
1) I have 15 users and each user has analog phone.
2) I have VOIP gateways where each gateway has 4 FXS ports.
3) I will connect the 15 users to the 4 gateways.
4) The gateways will be connected to 3CX using SIP.
5) It is required that 3CX can route calls between gateways connected to it.

Hopefully , I can clarify my scenario . If any other question required , Let me know.

Best Regards

Are the 15 users to be 3CX analogue extensions, or do you mean people using analogue phones at home? If they are to be extensions then they require analogue telephone adapters (ATAs), which can number 2, 4 or more lines per device. These are FXS ports (S= station).

If you connect 3CX to PSTN telephone lines, for outside calls, then you need a PSTN gateway, this has FXO ports (O= office)

I'm not clear on 1, 3 and 5

1) I have 15 users and each user has analog phone. Where are these people, on the PSTN network?

3) I will connect the 15 users to the 4 gateways. Physically?

5) It is required that 3CX can route calls between gateways connected to it. Please explain

If you are trying to provider some sort of phone service to "outside" users, then no, 3CX is not designed to do that.

You are basically describing internal calls between extensions connected to the same PBX.

3CX already does that with supported gateways.

The dial tone you were referring to is not really provided by 3CX, it is actually generated by the gateways.

You simply lift the handset, dial ie. extension 100 and it will work as expected.

Hi Leejor
Kindly find my replay:

1) Those people located in two buildings in the same campus and not through PSTN.
3) The analog phones will be connected physically to gateways.
5) When analog phone 1 connected to first gateway needs to call analog phone 2 connected to gateway 2 , then the call should go to 3CX who should route the call to gateway 2 so it can reach phone 2

Best Regards

As above, 3CX already does that like you described

Hi John
Kindly find my below notes:
1) When calling from analog phone 1 connected to gateway 1 to extension at 3CX , Call done successfully.
2) When analog phone 1 connected to first gateway needs to call analog phone 2 connected to gateway 2 , then the call should go to 3CX who should route the call to gateway 2 so it can reach phone 2 . I tried this but not worked.

You will need to provide more details then. 3CX supports specific gateways and those can talk to each other via 3CX.

I'm presuming that your are either not using supported gateways, or they have not been set up properly and might just need troubleshooting.

Please read this post before you proceed, and provide additional information:

May i know the number of SIP trunks to SIP gateways supported by 3CX standard edition ?

3CX does not have such limits, you can have as many as your system can handle.

The only limitation is the maximum simultaneous calls, and this depends on the size of license you want.

You can see this limit on the 3CX dashboard, to the right as "Sim Calls"

Can you provide a list (make and model) of the hardware devices (gateways/ATAs) you are trying to use.

Good Morning Leejor
I am using a gateway named Voptech which is not supported by 3CX . I think this is the problem. Is that true ?

Best Regards

3CX Supports SIP which is a standard, so this means that there is a very high chance you can get it to work, but you will have to manually figure out how to configure everything.

Supported gateways are much easier to use because they have already been tested by 3CX, and there are built-in templates for them which when used with our guides can help you quickly have them working.

You can also hire a 3CX partner to help you https://www.3cx.com/ordering/find-reseller/

Good Morning John & Leejor
Thx so much for your help and support in this case.

Best Regards
