Greetings... client switched from old Digium PBX to 3CX. They have 2 SIP trunks with multiple DID's on each. One is for local calls, the other is used for international calls. Everything is fine, however, the outbound caller ID that appears on recipient's phone is whatever was put in the User's extension.

All the DID's have last 3 digits that match user's extension in the 3CX, ie user 212 has local DID 212 - 555- 1212 and Int'l no 44205551212 ... it would be great if I could make some kind of outbound rule for the International DID that took the user's extension and created the outbound caller ID. I've tried futzing around with "reformat outgoing caller" under the Caller ID tab of the trunk, but can't get that do anything.

Is this possible other than creating an Outbound rule for every extension?

Thanks

This guide should help you with what you need.

https://www.3cx.com/docs/cid-reformatting/

Please take a note of the "Notes" at the bottom of the document. You would need to have your options set to OriginatorCallerId in order for this to work.
