Please Note. When ver 15.8 sp1 is released we should have the ability to disable chat available.
15.8 looks far away. Is that serious?

Any update on this?

Anyone reading this from 2020? Still no option to disable chat Globally or on per user basis.

@Nick Galea Still waiting on disabling chat. You said it was coming in 2016...

I would like to know also. Still waiting for this feature due to compliance restrictions.

Can see that Disable Chat Functionality it is added in the comming sp5, but ofcurse it can be removed again if technical issues raises during the Betatest.
You will find it in Settings -> PBX Settings (General Options) Allow Chat

That's great news Jed. Nice find!

Will be available in SP5 (but I cannot provide you an ETA for it) However, it's implemented and working OK.

This is a feature that our company has been *patiently* waiting on for several years. We now have a remote office that uses the softphone exclusively and chat is becoming a problem.

Ideally, it would be nice to disable it via group rights or per extension.

I agree that it needs to be configured from Group Rights and/or Extension Rights. Definitely need this feature for a several clients.

15.8?! Where did you hear of version 15.8?

This really helped. Thanks for this.

Feature now exists in SP5. Settings -> PBX -> uncheck Allow Chat

Chat is now able to be disabled from the Web Console under Settings>General>General Options. You can uncheck the box for Allow Chat

i have users that want to disable their chat without disabling it for everyone. can we get this functionality?
