I changed the notification e-mail address on one of my PBXes today and enabled all of the notifications.

Despite having disabled extension registration notification, I continue to get notifications. Lots of them. I've received about 1,500 of them for a PBX that's setup (an import from FreePBX), but not in use.

It would be nice to not receive them again.

I've rebooted the VM. Enabled, saved, then disabled, and saved the registration notifications. Still happens.

I shut the VM for this PBX off and it's still happening. sigh This is why I don't like using someone else's SMTP.

Not sure what someone else's SMTP has to do with this. The SMTP server is just the delivery mechanism. It's not generating the alerts. And since you shut off the VM and it's still happening then either they are queued and you'll have to wait to clear them out or you got your boxes mixed up :). Confirm the timestamp on the messages to be sure.

If it was my SMTP server, I could clear the queues or see the logs of how they were getting through. ;-)

The time stamps are current.

I only have three 3CX VMs, a customer, a demo, and this one.

Anyone at 3CX able to clear out your queue for me? I now have received over 50k messages and it's getting quite annoying having my mail clients locking up.

Why would you have over 50K emails standing by? I get that you don't want the email notification to be sent, but if you disabled it AFTER creating all extensions, then they will send anyway as the settings was there before saving.

If you changed the setting BEFORE, then you have a problem.

By the way, using your own SMTP would not fix anything. It's more likely that your own server would crash or overload with 50K email to send. 3CX SMTP uses Sendgrid which is built to handle billions of emails per day.

Yes, having my own mail server would easily fix this as I would just clear the mail queue with a command similar to "./delete-queue-by-email.sh [email protected] ". I use similar commands when someone's mailbox is compromised and the queue fills up with outbound SPAM. The PBX is off, so no more e-mails would be generated. Also, my own SMTP server would most certainly not crash if it had 50k (or however many) e-mails to send. It would also only take a couple hours to send them all, probably less if sent in bulk. This whole paragraph is off topic, though, from my desire to get 3CX\Sendgrid to stop sending me e-mail.

I have no idea why 3CX would be sitting on 50k+ e-mails, yet here we are.

This is on a PBX created from a FreePBX conversion. It sat there for quite some time (probably a month or two) before I did anything with it. Monday morning I turned notifications on, expecting none because no phones have ever been provisioned to connect to it. I tuned the notification off a couple hours later because of the volume. Here I am with now over 51k e-mails saying something similar to, "The registration status of extension has been changed".

I have attempted to reach out to Sendgrid to get them to check their queues and fix this.
