Hi All,

Im still relatively new with 3cx. We have recently migrated from old-fasion PBX to 3CX, and Im happy how it works, but what I miss most is option to see who is calling to my college being in same dept. (group). I can see BLF blinking but still I dont know who is caller and if it is worth to pick this up. (We had such option in previous phone system)

Is there any option in 3cx to set this up ?

Scenario:
1. I can hear my college's Windows Softphone app is ringing
2. Im opening my Windows app and can see BLF near his name is blinking
3. I can pick this up and speak to caller

What I miss is :
2a) Information on display who is calling to collegue

Use the Webclient, you can see it in the switchboard and the People section.

Make sure you have "Can see group calls" enabled and the others must have "Show calls to group members" enabled as well.

Thanks - however my users prefer Windows App - because of BLF panel (missing in webClient)
No option to have same functionality in Windows App ? (v16 or even v18) ?

** EDIT **
Ive check this switchboard / people sections - this is not what Id like to archive.. This is addtional window I have to open to monitor incoming calls / queuers - this is more for call centres not day to day use in small company...

I was more interested option to see someone is calling on my main app screen (with dialpad) - similarly if someone is calling me...
in previous system we seen that such way 123456 -> John
(where John is my team mate)

The Windows app can, but not on the BLF. You need to use the Switchboard in the app. (One of the icon at the bottom.)

The Windows client doesn't support V18. V18 has a brand new Windows app that is basically the Webclient with deeper integration.

Thanks - does this mean that no other option to archive that other then switchboard ?
Switchboard is too heavy, additional window, while our preference is to keep this app minimalistic

Then no, there's no other way. The new desktop app for V18 fixes that since it's all in one window and you can see the call on the user card.

@Parslej
It's as @Frederick Marcoux correctly said, you can either:

1. Use the 3CX Webclient.
2. Keep the 3CX Phone for Windows but use the Switchboard.
3. Wait for 3CX V18 and thus the arrival of the 3CX Desktop App which will have very similar functionality to the 3CX Webclient.

The Windows client doesn't support V18
Just a small correction here, the 3CX Windows Client (3CX Phone for Windows) will actually still be available and supported for 3CX V18.

Thank you for your reply. I'm more and more keen to migrate to V18 - as this seems to address majority of my queries.

Only blocker to me at this moment is lack of option to change individual's ringtones...
(I managed that in Windows client by replacing local WAV files in app folder)

Imagine you have dozen of people in room, sitting close together all using softPhoine apps - it is hard to know who's phone is ringing...

Yes, this can only be done in the 3CX Mobile App.

We will not be deploying mobile Apps.I need that feature on PC.
(Actually im soooo surprised this is not possible out-of-the box, all softphones Ive used so far allow that...)

I can read lot of posts here ppl requesting that.
Do you know any workaround I can have custom ringtone on PC? eg via some integration / API

a lot of our clients had the same problem. our solution was a kuando busylight with a small custom integration. now we can have different ringtones, visual status and also different rings for internal / external calls.

@Marco

What you said resolves only problem that you know someone is calling, but not who is calling :(Anyway, we are just about to migrate to v.18
Correct me if Im, wrong but in new app it seems there is no option to set custom ringtone ?

I'm afraid not.
Gosh - seriously it is so difficult to implement that?
Cant even ringtone's wav file be replaced in user folder ?

Not really, all I can recommend for now is maybe considering contacting one of our partners that has the appropriate permissions for posting in our Ideas section so that you can ask if they can post this feature request on your behalf. Hopefully it gains enough upvotes so it gets considered for implementation.

Using the windows client - Have a look at C:\ProgramData\3CXPhone for Windows\PhoneApp at the wav's, mp3's, and wma's

Thanks I know that - but this is WIndows Client App (v16). Im speaking about new (v.18) app - which looks as Desktop app but it is using web engine in fact

I understand that. I was saying if this is a deal breaker instead of using the desktop app (the new electron based client) you can continue using the Windows App (the old client) and can continue to customize sounds.

It's a suggestion for a workaround until/if the DesktopApp gets custom ringtones.

Can I still use v.16 Windows client with v.18 pbx ?
