I tried looking at the docs but didn't see this...does restoring a backup made without voicemails keep the existing voicemails? Or are they erased when the restore happens? I'm thinking of the same server, as we're backing up the entire VM but so far just having the nightly in-3CX backups back up the configuration, license, and custom templates/firmware to quickly restore from a configuration error.

If you have a VM just restore it without a network connection and test? I wouldn't trust something of that importance to forum hearsay :).

Hi Steve,

You should be ok to restore that backup (on the currently running instance) and the voicemails will stay in their folders as is.

So for example

1. I take a backup today in the morning
2. day goes by, some voicemails arrive
3. I restore that backup the next day
4. my voicemails remain unaffected, they are still available even though the backup was restored

Careful though: If I delete my extension after step 2, and the voicemails are also deleted along with the extension, then restoring the PBX will bring my extension back but not the voicemails (since I did not include them in the backup)

Thanks John. I actually tried it before I read your message...realized we had one ready to go that I could leave a VM and restore, and I confirm the VMs stay. That's what I thought, just didn't want to assume!

Good work, never assume - always confirm ;)

Glad to help!
