Can anyone think of a reason why the Kalika Ulydor UC1 ( http://www.kalika.co.uk/ulydor.asp?id=7 ) should not work with an analogue TA on the 3CX.

The UC1 is an analogue PBX enabled doorphone/access control module. When the call button is pressed it rings a pre-programmed extension/ring group, when answered the visitor has 2 way speech with the answering extension, the answering extension can then press a key sequence to release the door lock via a relay built into the UC1.

May seem like a dumb question but this option looks too easy to be true so I am sure I am missing something.

I think it's worth of trying to connect that device thru ATA and register it as an extension. I can not guarantee that it will allow you to open the door (by the way, how it is instructed to open? DTMF sequence?), but two way conversation you should get right out of the box.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is a DTMF sequence, providing this will pass through the ATA it should work.

I was just wondering how much does that unit cost? I might replace units with thoses if it works :)

They are generally being offered for sale in UK for around £125 +VAT

Interesting, I'll have a look for this, to extend the possibility from just speaking with the person at the door, to actually being able to open the door.
For me the priority is to be able to communicate with people at a remote door, so I can tell them to go to a different door.
At the moment I'm using a Cisco 7940 with broken off-hook switch (if you're lucky you find them cheap at Ebay). Soldered a wire on the message button to bring it to the external doorbell, as well as bringing the speaker and microphone outside.
I've configured the phone to dial a ring-group number when the message button is pushed.
At the outside of the door, I build the microphone and the speaker in an old external panel. Works well.
Obviously you could do something similar with other phone with speaker-phone capabilities.
