Door release

Existing (non-VoIP) phone system has a card fitted that simply closes a circuit to activate a relay that releases the door lock.
Anyone know of a device that we can connect to a 3CX extension that will simply open / break a circuit for a few seconds to active the relay that will release the door lock ?

If the existing door system, is one connected to an analogue phone line. Person at the door presses a button, extension rings, person at door identifies themselves, called extension presses DTMF button to open door...then, the existing opener should probably work with 3CX, by using an ATA.

It depends on how much you want to spend.

Grandstream also has the GDS series (they have a template for it) that can do that easily.

Thank you all for the replies;
But none of then are quite what we're looking for - the existing systems is incredibly simple...
It doesn't need DTMF tones to release the door lock; it literally needs a pair of wires connecting together.
The existing phone system has a card fitted that just closes a switch for a couple of seconds to complete the circuit - that's it!
Any ideas ?

It still will be a DTMF thats send by your current system, if you dont need to do this via a phone then



on a wall or desk will do the job

But the existing system really isn't sending dial tones - it's just closing a switch for a few seconds.

I fail to understand how the current door opener installation, is connected the phone system.
Can you provide more of an explanation, as to how it is currently operating.

for the relay to activate is has to have some sort of signal, what button do uses press on their current phones to open the door, even if it ringing and extension (i.e the door) it is still receiving some sort of signal to open the door, the phone system need to know when to close that switch with either a phone call or a DTMF

I think I understand the arrangement you've got but, once you move to a VoIP system, you will need to send DTMF codes for the door release.

We have a client with the following arrangement:
1) Fanvil 1-button intercom that dials the receptionist.
2) The receptionist talks to the person.
3) To unlock the door the receptionist presses a button on their phone that sends DTMF codes back to the intercom.
4) The intercom has a relay that closes the circuit for a few seconds to release the door lock.

The door lock is wired to the intercom's relay and releases when the correct DTMF codes are received but only when a call is active.
