Solved Email template "From (Display Name)" not updating

3CX PBX Professional 18.0 Update 1 (Build 237) / Debian 10 64-bit / hosted on AWS by 3CX partner

PBX Settings > Email > Email Templates. Select template to edit = "fax"

The "From:" field is not updating in received emails - see attachments.

More detail: I edited the "From (Display Name)" field for Fax emails to "end-user_company_name 3CX Communications System", but the faxes still show up as coming from "3CX Communications Systems - 3CX_reseller_name" (Substitute italics for actual end-user and reseller names). I want to hide the reseller details from staff receiving the fax emails.

The same issue was in 16.x (Debian 9). I waited until the 18.x upgrade in the hope that it would fix the issue, but unfortunately it hasn't.

What you're experiencing is actually expected if using the 3CX SMTP. The "From: Display Name" will always be "3CX Communications System - %Company Name%" where %Company Name% is the name under which the License Key is registered under:




If you want to be able to use the "From: Display Name" field and hence modify it you will have to use a different SMTP other than the 3CX one.

Yeah thanks Chris. I used a different SMTP server, and now it's working as expected. In the top right there's the Help button and the notes make mention of this so I should have RTFM. Can lock this thread thanks.
