Extensions picking other phones incoming calls/messages

A couple of colleagues are reporting that their extensions are picking up other people's calls and messages.

I was wondering, does the 3CX phone system operate in a way where if certain calls are made direct to extensions, messages or transfers cannot be made (available or DND). Does the 3CX phone system automatically bounce elsewhere to other extensions?

The PBX will build a specific call flow based on your configuration. A call routed between extensions is very possible, but this won't be random at all, if this is what you mean. It will follow a predefined path based on your setup and configuration.

If one of these calls happens, have a look at the 3CX Activity Log. It will show the progress of the call through the PBX, and why it went where it did. Everything working as it should (no hardware faults or software corruption), calls route to a an extension because rules and events, that were created, cause this to happen, nothing is random.
