hi i am looking to set up a external ext do i dose the external ext have to have a static public ip address ? i am havein some problems i have a fire wall but that is connected to a bt broadband router ?

3CX box can support external extension without static public IP.

- Need to have STUN server correct config
- Tick "Bind to Media Server"
- Tick "Extension is external"

Open these ports on your firewall or Broadband router:

5060 port forward to 3cx box
9000-9003 udp port forward to 3cx box
9000-9003 udp allow any IP to any IP for in and out
3478 udp allow any IP to any IP for in and out

Hello.

I need help setting up external Extensions and the D-Link router firewall. Could anyone help me and let me know what I am doing wrong in firewall setup please. See - http://people.stu.ca/~nahid/others/3cx/D-Link_DI524_Firewall.pdf .

Keywords - full cone NAT

It will work like a charm.

Hi nahidul,

Your 3cx box already put into the DMZ. It should be no need to do the ports forward. If it still not works. Please provide the 3cx log

Hello.

Please see http://people.stu.ca/~nahid/others/3cx/3CX_Log_18July2007.pdf or http://www.3cx.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1763 .

Thank you in advance for your help.

Please try to use STUN server 80.239.235.209 for your Virtual Extension 10000@Acanca instead of 66.7.238.210

I've followed your directions for configuring a firewall for external extension

9000-9003 udp port forward to 3cx box
9000-9003 udp allow any IP to any IP for in and out
3478 udp allow any IP to any IP for in and out

When I dial the extension, I hear no audio and this is what the server log shows:

[MS101003] Call(183) Ext.107: Possible firewall problem. Address mapping failed on STUN server 69.0.208.27:3478 for local address ":9002"

Any suggestions?

Brian

Hi bfleishman,

Apologies for my over look

Which firewall are you in use (brand and model)?

Please try to temporary allow UDP any any form WAN in and out to the box's IP. Then refer to the firewall log, it may be help to solve this issue.

Regards

please forward ports in both directions it mean that outgoing packets from PBXhost:port[9000-9003] also must be sent outside from ports 9000-9003 of the NAT host.
