Failed upgrade - restoring from backup instead of trying again

As per the title, following a failed upgrade I've decided to nuke our install and restore from backup rather than troubleshoot.

My question is this: Should I install V20 and restore from V18 backup, or install V18, restore from backup and then upgrade?

Depends on your configuration... What does the log said why it failed? If everything is preconfigured for v20, than its the best way to install v20 and restore the v18 backup.

It failed spectacularly, leaving a non-functioning system behind (I think my comment at the time was that it "Crashed harder than Windows 95"). I had to quickly revert to the pre-upgrade snapshot I took, so I lost the log for analysis. My previous experience is that it's easier / better / faster to rebuild than troubleshoot in this situation.

Everything is prepared for V20, so it sounds like a restore from V18 to V20 is the way to go.

Than you could go this way and should be fine.
