Failover Configuration

Good morning!

I am preparing to deploy 3CX Enterprise using a failover and wanted to see if my scenario would work:

• Primary: Hosted in our datacenter behind NAT /w a public IP
• Backup: Hosted with Vultr.com -- no NAT /w a public IP

If I am reading the Topology section of this article correctly, it sounds like what I would like to do isn't possible.. either I need to have both servers behind NAT or no NAT on both servers.

Is this correct or is it possible to have a failover scenario as I listed above? I'm trying to figure out how to do this since we only have 1 datacenter location and I don't see a point in having a failover scenario in the same datacenter.

Any advice or clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

On another note -- I didn't see any mention about the FQDN of the failover server -- I'm assuming that having a completely different FDQN that resolves back to the public IP of the primary server is fine?

You are not reading it correctly. Your scenario is possible, it's just not supported/tested by 3CX. If you got the custom route you can do anything you want. The 3CX scenario is to use a single FQDN and then update DNS to point to the active box.
