Hello all.

I have some fanvil phones deployed with 16.0.1078.

Fanvil phones on latest firmware.

Is it normal that when the customer/end user adds a blf or speed dial that 3cx wipes this information each day? What is the reason for this if so? It seems very over the top.

Is there anyway around this without either messing with a config file like some teenager trying to jailbreak an old iPhone or without not allowing 3cx to auto provision at all and just adding the phones manually....

If I leave the blf keys blank in the extension would that still wipe what the users want to enter themselves?

Thanks in advance

How are the users configuring the BLF keys - directly via phone gui. If so next time the phone provisions it will wipe the entries

Endusers can configure the keys via the webclient or windows client which will not wipe the settings

Thanks for that, appreciate the response. I was aware that if done via the Desktop app or Web client it would keep the Blfs etc but trying to tell users that is not straight forward, some do not want or need the desktop app, won't log into yet another Web page or simply won't understand. It's baffling to me why there is not a setting to turn this off. Or at least have the phone be able to write to the config file when a change is made via the phone....

Hi,

Yes, this behavior is normal. 3CX was designed to configure and manage BLFs via auto-provisioning, so that you will only configure your extension and then all your devices will universally follow your extension settings. It also means that when you use Hot Desking, no matter what phone you log in, you will always have your BLFs with you.

The supported way of managing BLFs is either from the Management Console or from the Webclient.

What we find a bit of a hassle is the the side keys on F4 also get wiped because the only relevant action is "blank" wish there was a setting like "No Action" . In all the years of using 3CX Yealink and Fanvil we have only needed one line designation and use the side keys for other phone systems. This is particularly helpful when you have a home office and residence on 3CX this way both systems are on one handset. Because of updates to templates we tend to not mess with customization at the template level. Would be nice for 3CX to address side key management on supported phones allowing an option of "no action" or a BLF for a bridged system...
