I have notice that for quite a while our Fanvil phones have been 1 hour ahead of time. 3cx is set to use utc+2 Central African Time, the provisioning settigns for the phones are set to the same.. Logging on to the fanvil phones webpages i can see that the phones are also set to UTC +2 however they also have DST enabled. These phones have all been provisioned from within 3cx.

in the fanvil.ph.xml template i see the following in the <timezoneParams param="time_timezone_fanvil"> Section:

Code:

UCT_-05

2

60

3

2

0

2

00

11

1

0

2

00

-20

UTC-5

4

1

If the comment in that template is true should i replace that entry with the correct timezone? Is the order of the other timezones important in the templates (i see they are numbered in the option value field.

Will i need to re-provision the phones after updating the template?

Currently running V16.0.273 and there are no updates available. phones in use are Fanvil X5s and X3S and are running Firmware version 2.10.0.6645 and are showing up to date in the 3cx management console.

Can anyone give me some instructions on how to resolve this?

Hi TekkNinja

This is the template, you have to see the actual config file the phone receives in order to see what has been programmed into the phone. To build the link use this format:
https://FQDN:5001/provisioning/randomIDfolder/MACADDRESS.cfg

If your system is on Windows, ensure the Windows server has the correct time set and correct timezone, but also check the management console under Settings > Timezone to ensure the PBX is also correct. Then under each extension set the phones to use Global Timezone and they will inherit the above upon reprovisioning. You should not need to create a custom template if these are correct, just reprovision the phones when everything above is corrected.

Please Note the latest firmware revisions are:

Fanvil X3S 2.10.0.6646
Fanvil X5S 1.10.8

The left is what appears on Central Africa Time, and the right it what appears for Cyprus for comparison (which is GMT+3 in the summer VS Africa that would remain as GMT+2)
Once you download the .cfg file, you will notice the offsets for Africa are empty meaning that you should have GMT+2 always

Hi JohnS, I have downloaded the config file for my desk phone which is one of the affected ones. the config seems alright to me.

Code:
<Time_Zone>8</Time_Zone>
<Time_Zone_Name>UTC+2</Time_Zone_Name>
<Location>10</Location>
<Enable_DST>1</Enable_DST>
<DST_Type>1</DST_Type>

<DST_Min_Offset></DST_Min_Offset>
<DST_Start_Mon></DST_Start_Mon>
<DST_Start_Week></DST_Start_Week>
<DST_Start_Wday></DST_Start_Wday>
<DST_Start_Hour></DST_Start_Hour>
<DST_Start_Min></DST_Start_Min>
<DST_End_Mon></DST_End_Mon>
<DST_End_Week></DST_End_Week>
<DST_End_Wday></DST_End_Wday>
<DST_End_Hour></DST_End_Hour>
<DST_End_Min></DST_End_Min>

I have checked that the windows server we are running 3cx from is set to the correct timezone and the management console is also set to GMT+2 CAT

I have tried setting the the Timezone to use global as well as GMT+2 under the phone provision tab for my extension with a factory reset between each attempt and it still shows 1 hour ahead of time.

We have an internal NTP server which we get our time from which is working fine across our network.its only these fanvils that seem to be giving issues.

I can confirm that we are now running 2.10.0.6646 for the Fanvil X3S and 1.10.8 for the Fanvil X5S. I assume i miss typed the version for the x3s in my earlier post.

Hi TekkNinja,

We look further into it and get back to you.

Upon further investigation it seems the manufacturer's firmware does not provide an option for that region so we only provision the GMT+2 part.

As soon as they add Central Africa Time we will update the templates accordingly, but I would suggest to submit it to them or your local Fanvil representative so they can add it in a future release.

@JohnS_3CX
Hi John, out of interest, and before we complain to the vendor, can you confirm what changes 3CX is making to the stock firmware? is it just the background logo?

We have been suffering with this problem since Jan 2017. I've got this version installed;
FanvilX3S2.8.0.6251

still the GUI has no GMT+2 and only countries in the northern hemisphere are available under UTC+2.
Nothing for Africa:
11073

I can't confirm the any changes, features like timezones are something that the vendor decides for each model/region as far as I'm aware.

Hence if it's there, we will use it in our provisioning template as matched with the timezone of your PBX, if not we will use the closest match (like the one you highlighted here in the screenshot)

Thanks John. So begins the process of climbing the distribution channel.
