I have found a couple of forum posts mentioning what seems to be similar issues, none I found have solutions and they are closed for additional updates.

I have installed a new system, with 6 handsets, 3 of which have Bluetooth headsets (Jabra Evolve65)
Initially, we had them powered from the phone USB plug since those headsets don't actually come with a charger... and I noticed phone would freeze/crash and I would have to manually unplug the POE source to force a reboot. Other times a phone would just reboot itself. But otherwise, it worked for a couple of test calls I made while installing the headsets and confirming volume etc. But after training and leaving site, the next day we had reports of the phone freezing and/or rebooting itself.

I then moved the headset power from the phone USB port to a nearby PC USB power source, wondering if it was pulling too much power from the phone/POE and problem persisted. We then upgraded the POE switch from a TP-Link which supported 250W draw to a Cisco 400W capacity in case the TP-Link was causing issues, even though the 6 phones should be drawing less than 15w each. Each one of these steps had no change. Phone would appear working but would at times freeze or reboot - didn't matter if on a call or just sitting on desk unused - and the timing wasn't consistent, but was frequent.

Next step was disabling the Bluetooth on the handset and ignoring the headset altogether. This seemed to fix it, but a day later the client sent me a video of the phone rebooting again. This was a big change from happening 5 to 15 times a day, to working a whole day without noticing a reboot.

Technical details, PCs are getting their internet from the phones.
3CX is v16.0 Update 8 (Build 9) locally hosted on an IP3-NX32Lite
Phones were upgraded to latest firmware at install ~3 weeks ago 2.4.11
Phones with issues only seem to be the ones where Bluetooth was used, and even after turning it off again, problem seems to persist, but at a much lower frequency. I have not been back to factory reset the phones and reconnect them, I am hoping to get some more information on this problem and have a solution for them before doing so.

I have tried to get support from Fanvil directly also, as it seems more likely to me that the fault is on the Fanvil side of things... no response yet. These were recommended handsets from 3CX and it seems this issue has been around a long time without any resolution I could find. I am hoping someone has a solution that I haven't located, or at least can give a reliable update on where 3CX/Fanvil are with their testing and a possible fix.

Hi there!

From a 3CX perspective, we don't test the BT functionality of supported IP Phones and is not part of the requirements we discuss with the IP Phone manufacturers.
Indeed, this does sound like an IP Phone issue, but I would suggest factory resetting on of the devices that continue to misbehave even after disconnecting the BT headset, just to make sure.

The right course of action is what you have already done, try to get in contact with Fanvil about this issue.

I also seem to recall at some point that a user that had some problems, can't remember if they are the same, said that they had problems only with certain makes of headsets, but with others it was OK.
Best though Fanvil confirm this as I could be wrong.

Thanks for quick response. I didn't see any other reports listing the brand, so that's why I thought to list it. I attempted to make a ticket at Fanvil.com but not confident it worked. After clicking the submit button, I got a green smiley face but the page didn't update - it still showed my ticket entry details... And I didn't receive an email saying my ticket had been submitted, but will wait and see what happens... While I wait, if anyone else has encountered this problem, it would be interesting to know if same model/brand of headsets, or if there is a brand/model that people can recommend as working well with the Fanvil x5u bluetooth phones.

We're seeing exactly the same issue with our X5U and X210 phones. They're fine until a USB or BT headset is connected, then they become unstable. There's nothing in the syslog to indicate why it freezes/crashes.

Fanvil's only suggestion so far was to use an older version of the firmware (2.2.13). The older firmware does seem to work a bit better on the X5U phones but made no different on the X210.

Really hoping the next firmware fixes this.

After many issues, Fanvil have provided me with another firmware file to try, filename makes it appear to be 2.4.4.1 Will update once I've been back to client and tried it out.

Update: I have replicated in office using different 3CX Hardware (Client site was an NX32Lite, office is RasPi4) and same handset and headset (Fanvil x5u and Jabra evolve 65). I was able to replicate the fault, but the phone seemed to behave itself for the first few hours. I came back after the weekend, and I saw it reboot itself twice in space of 20 minutes. I have since uploaded the firmware provided by Fanvil ( phone registers as 2.4.4.1 ) and now it reboots fairly regularly, every couple of minutes.

It shows in red in the 3CX Phones portal as an unsupported firmware. I have "Allow alternative firmware (i.e. localized/3rd party firmware other default 3CX supported firmware)" enabled in the Settings -> Phone / App Options but not sure if I can rule out the reboots as being the firmware/bluetooth thing, or a command from 3CX since it's happening so regularly now, I'm worried 3CX is rebooting it?

Fanvil support is 12 hours behind me, so it's a slow process dealing with them, but I'll update here as I can for anyone else having these issues.

The alternative firmware function is currently only responsible to deploying Dutch Lydis firmware on Yealink phones. It has no effect other than that so it makes no difference in your case.

3CX does not ever reboot the phones. The only way 3CX can reboot a phone is when you actually press the Reboot button manually so do not worry about that at all.

Good to know thanks. It'll be another 12 hours or more until I hear back from Fanvil. The constant rebooting has actually stopped now...

Any luck with this?

I am also curious, I have multiple customers with this issue(x5u and x6u).

I am dealing with another support provider on the issue, they couldn't replicate the problem but they didn't have the same model bluetooth headsets as me, the Jabra Evolve 65, would be interested to know what models others with this problem had.

Still working on a solution, will update again soon I hope.

Hello,

we have fanvil x6u and Jabra Evolve 65 too.
I observed the same problem. (freeze, reboot) Fanvil + Jabra evolve 65 = bad
I didn´t asked Fanvil Support yet.

Update time: Fanvil have given me firmware 2.4.12 which seemed to fix THAT issue. Have 4 phones that haven't had any reboots that I have seen. There are still issues with the Jabra Evolve 65 headsets that I think are simply headset related, they don't seem a very good headset. Customer complaining of very low audio both in their earpiece and microphone. So just an FYI for anyone else looking at headsets, I'm hoping there is a "Gains" section somewhere I can boost volume.

I'm guessing I'm not supposed to link the firmware here for anyone else with the issue, but if you get onto Fanvil support they ahould be able to assist. Direct them to this thread if need be.

*Edit* Both the client and I have experienced phones that seem to become unresponsive now. Screens are "Dimly lit" and pressing buttons doesn't do anything, but pressing the speaker key turns on speaker ready to make a call, but dialling doesn't respond. I've notified my support channel, 1 step forward, 2 steps back :/
