Hi,

3CX v16 on-site installation. 160+ handsets, mostly Snom D785 which work great. Trying to add a couple of Fanvil X7 phones for our front office - better feature set (on paper anyway) but I'm having issues with multicast paging. On the Snom phones, I configure a BLF/function key (via custom template) with *11809 which activates the phones and a Fanvil PA2 (interface with our older PA system) - works fine. Tried the same thing on the X7 via the 3CX "BLF" tab (no custom template in this case) and I get nothing but on-hold music broadcasting over all of the phones and the PA system. Caller can't talk over the music and it takes a couple of hang-ups to get it to stop.

Now, it originally didn't work correctly on the Snom phones either; I had to set "interrupt=0" in the multicast section of a custom template to make paging bypass active calls and not put the caller on hold. I know 3CX doesn't like the custom templates but wondering if there is something that has to be done in a Fanvil template to make MCAST paging work on the X7.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

OK, well didn't hear from anyone but worked out the issue by configuring the paging to simply use the multicast address and not the 3CX multicast group...seems to have fixed the issue.

We are having a similar issue with Fanvil X5s phones barging in on themselves during multicast paging. I didn't quite understand "configuring the paging to simply use the multicast address and not the 3CX multicast group".

In my case I found that if I set the phone settings - mcast - Priority to disabled it seems to stop the phones barging in on themselves if they are configured for the multicast paging but your issue/resolution with separate paging system might have been different.

Appreciate any help.

Thx

Hey systemstech, so what I ended up doing was disabling the auto-provision setting on the Fanvils and setting up the function keys manually (only 3 phones in this case). Rather than using the 3CX multicast group I set up one of the sidekeys (function keys on the main screen) with the option of "Multicast Paging" and then entered the multicast IP address and port that I'm using in the templates for non-Fanvil phones. This made the Fanvil phones multicast capable and since the function key calls the same IP and port as is set up on the other phones they were able to page without playing hold music.

The other part of it was training; folks were pushing the "hold" function key to end a paging session (or double-tapping it to start a page) which was putting the page on hold and then broadcasting hold music :\

I will look into your suggestion on disabling priority - would like to be able to auto-provision these phones though we do http-get and some other stuff with some of the keys which does not appear to be directly supported from the 3CX server. I need to do research on how to do this on a Fanvil with a custom template. The Snom custom template was easy - just put everything at the bottom and it works but the Fanvil seems to be trickier...we'll see.

Thanks...
