I've been following the instructions to setup my ATA (Grandstream HT801 and Grandstream HT812), but when I click on the provisioning link, per the instructions, I get an error. When I look on the server (local windows server install), I don't see the config file anywhere in the provisioning folder.

What am I missing? What do I need to setup to ensure that the config file is created properly?

Config files aren’t stored in the server they are created on demand v15 and up.

Make sure on grandstream devices to not include http:// (or https:// for remote phones) in the URL. On those devices choose type of http (or https for remote phones) and then fill in the URL.

The instructions say to download the provisioning XML file.

Right click the Provisioning Link and select “Save Target as”, and save it to your disk. This XML file will be the configuration file of your gateway
.

If provisioning files are now created on demand, I would need different instructions to point to the new provisioning location. Under Advanced Settings, I see an option for 3CX auto-provision (which is checked as "Yes") and I also see the STUN server entry, but that would only indicate where the server is but not direct to the proper provisioning folder.

I found the provisioning location as the "Config server path," and then pointed the FXS port to the SIP server IP address. It still isn't going very smoothly though as the device still can't see the 3CX server.

@Jeff Koertzen

The configuration files being generated on demand simply means there is no file to find on the file system.

Those instructions 'should' be correct. I was able to add a bogus HT801 config on my system, save it, and then go back and download the XML. If you aren't able to download the config file please post the error message.

Please make sure that when you are adding a new FXS device you first click OK to save the configuration in the management console and then click on the provisioning link that will allow you to download the config file.

The error is "Failed-Forbidden." According to Google's support page on the error:
This error means you don't have permission to download this file from the server.

To fix, go to the website where the file is hosted. Check if you need to sign in (or provide some other authentication). If you can't sign in, contact the website or server owner, or try finding the file on a different site.

I was pretty sure that I had the setting set correctly on the server (local install, windows server 2012R2 VM). What do I need to change to correct this error?

Are you trying to access the file from a local to the PBX machine? Can you try from the PBX machine and see if that works?

Hi Yiannis, I tried downloading from the local machine and get the same error in Chrome.

How is the link formatted? does it contain the local IP of the server of the FQDN? Is it http or https?

It is formatted as local IP with http (not https).

Hi Jeff,

did you try downloading the cfg using the link in the exact format shown below? (the grayed out part is the MAC)

10451

Notes:
http = port 5000
https = port 5001 when using the FQDN in the URL
and random characters after the word provisioning are you unique secret provisioning folder
