Hi

I don't know why Elastix 5 should force the number of the digits for the extension during install.
You may have some extensions with 3 digits, and others with 4 or 10 digits. Why not.

It is made in order to design the extensions of the PBX (ring groups, call queue, fax, ivr, etc) the most common length are 3 or 4 digits.

So we have no way to have for example : some extensions with 3 digits and some extensions with 4 digits?

The length of the extensions must be defined during the installation process.

So, no way to change anything about after the first install?

Once installed the system you can't change the length of digits for the extensions.

Aïe.
So, reinstall from scratch, right?

You should find a way to do it.
This kind of stuff not comming often, but it exists.
Too haevy if we need to change the dialplan about these extensions.

Yes, you would need to reinstall from scratch.

That is why so important to select the correct length of the extensions during the installation process.

However you can export the extensions and modify the extension length if need to reinstall.

Best regards!

We need two types of digits for extensions

We have a public offices refer to Government uses 3 digits and an extensions for a costumers uses 6 digits

This is Necessary.

Best Regards

Any reason why the extensions must be of fixed length?

Differents products, differents ways, differents minds.

3CX had believed it was good to do like this without beware of these possibilities.
Today, i've some doubts that 3CX would like to solve this issue.

Wait and see.

3CX do the things by brute force. 3CX pay money to Elastix and we have to play this game or move away.
I choose to not install Elastix anymore. I have some working 2.5 installations.
Next time I'll install AsteriskNOW.
So sad.
