Hello-

I am trying to figure out how to immediately forward an extension number to a ring group. I have attempted to set the timeout to "0" in the forwarding settings but 3CX will not take a zero value. Perhaps I am going about this in the wrong way trying to immediately forward an extension to another location without ringing the initial extension first?

Thanks!

Wait.. you have to modify a persons presence in order to set a forward on an extension without ringing the initial phone first? Surely there has to be a better way I would hope.

Is there a way to set an unconditional forward on 3CX regardless of the presence of a person?

If you never intend on the extension receiving calls, which it sound like, then calls would be forwarded immediately if the set were not registered (a dummy extension).

Thanks leejor. One last question.

Let's say I have forwarding rules for an extension that I want applied regardless of what the presence of the extension is set to -- do I have to configure forwarding settings for each presence status or is there a better way of doing this?

In this case, I want calls going to an extension to ring for 10 seconds, then send the call to a ring group.. but I want this to happen all of the time and not be reliant on presence status

So if I want forwarding conditions to apply to an extension no matter what their current presence status is, I have to manually configure the forwarding settings for each possible presence status?

The forwarding rules are logical. You have options if you are at the phone and choose not to answer, or if you have invoked a condition, such as ...do not disturb, office hours, caller ID, the set is not registered...etc. It's up to you to set-up the one(s) that work for your particular situation, which means they may not all have to be provisioned. The PBX does not know where to send a call unless you specify it.

If you want a forwarding to happen all the time then set the extension to a status you have configured once and do not change it. The status of an extension does not switch unless you tell it to switch or you have enabled auto switching.
You have the option to switch status for en extension if you need to but you do not have to.
There is also the exceptions section you can use which is not affected by status switching.
