We have a remote office (connected via an SBC) to a central 3CX server. I want to configure the remote extension so that, if the internet connection to the remote office goes down, calls are forwarded to a central extension. However, I don't want that to happen if the extension is just busy. The only option I can see is the one that forwards when the extension is "busy or unregistered" i.e. one rule to cover both cases. Can anyone suggest how I could implement different rules for the "busy" case compared to the "unregistered" case?

Hi Rob,

Busy and Unregistered behave the same way so I'm not sure this is possible.

You can however enable "Accept Multiple Calls" so that if you are already registered and on a call, the destination will not apply, leaving only the Unregistered scenario to forward the call to the destination of your your choice.

Hi John

Many thanks for the excellent suggestion which may well do the job :-) A couple of follow-up questions if I may:

What would happen if I enabled "Accept Multiple Calls" but the handset itself was not configured for / capable of handling multiple calls? How would 3CX react when a 2nd call came in?

Basically, the phone shows you that you have a 2nd incoming call which you can choose to swap to, reject, or ignore.

If the device doesn't support it (which should not be a problem with supported phones) or the user does not answer it, then the rules will apply as you see them in the Forwarding settings.

For example
If I do not answer calls within: 20 seconds. Forward internal calls to: Voicemail

Thanks very much. Very prompt and helpful.
