Generic SIP device call transfer

For a "generic" SIP phone that just has numbers and "R" what is the sequence to transfer a call.

I tried:
"R"
dial extension
"R"
Hangup

but the call was returned to the original handset.

Is this an actual SIP phone or is it attached to an ATA?

I think it counts as a SIP phone, it is a Gigaset DECT phone, and the base is a Gigaset N300 IP. It isn't a supported model though so I think it just behaves like an ATA.

The call was held and the extension rang so surely I can't be far off

If it registers using 3CX credentials, it will have to be a SIP VoIP phone.

DECT phones need to have a dedicated transfer button or screen with soft keys to allow you to perform transfers. The limitation may be the handset rather than the base in this case.

I have a few of the 610IP and 530IP bases, I assume it will be similar to yours. Handset features/display are going to vary. To to an attended transfer, press the flash key (R in your case). You should get dialtone and the display may show Call to: and a flashing cursor. Dial the extension you wish to transfer to...it will ring. Wait until they answer, tell them you are transferring a call. Press the Options button, bottom right, then scroll down to Call Transfer, press OK. Then hang up.

That is how it works on mine, as i say, the bases allow the use of a number of different handsets, and your display may be different.

Similar: I have a "R" key but not sure about "option" unless that's the one immediately below the display. Honestly the biggest problem I have is not 3CX or the phone, it is getting someone here to cooperate so I can try to transfer a test call.

Yes, there are two keys below the display, the functions of which change, and are indicated along the bottom of the display. Of course, handset functions may vary. I have found that a number of handsets , while being able to register to the base, and perform basic functions, do not have all features available.
