Hello,

Quick question. How can I provision a generic sip device? If I go into the phones list there are only the supported phones in there and no option for "Other".

Thanks

You create the extension in 3CX - create just the extension details

To provision the device, you need to manually configure the device with sip ip addresses, sip username and password

yes. I am aware of that. Basically I am trying to set up an SPA112 for a fax line. I can go ahead and create an extension, but when I go into "Phone Provisioning" and click "Add" it only shows me me the list of certified phones and I cannot select an option for a different device. What to do?

Ah. Just realized this needs to be under Fax Extensions, right?

Again, you can't provision an unsupported device from 3CX. You have to manually configure the device to talk to 3CX.

If you do some searching through the forums (even through Google), you will come across a number of posts, with queries about using the SPA112 (and other ATAs) with fax machines and 3CX.

Keep in mind a FAX ATA will only work when installed on the same LAN as the server, or when using VPN.

Thanks. Okay so here is where we are. I understand it needs to be setup manually and cannot be provisioned. I set up a new fax extension, then put in the settings for the PBX as can be seen in the screenshot below. I see that it is registering correctly but for some reason there is no "line." The fax machine when plugged into the line leading into this SPA does not get any dial tone or anything. I also noticed hook state seems to always say "Off." Call 1 State also says "Invalid" and Call 1 Tone says "None."

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Unplug the fax machine and plug an analogue phone into the socket. Dial tone? It should show the line state as being on hook. If you continue to have problems, post the other setting pages for the 112

Thanks @leejor. I tried with a regular analog phone, and that did not work as well. I wonder if I should include the other settings pages although I have not changed any of the settings aside from what was recommend on the forums (SIP Information, T38 On and Echo Cancel Off).

If the 112 has successfully registered, you should at least have dial tone even if things such as internal dialplans prevent calls from going through.
Please post the config pages (passwords don't show anyway), and I'll look over your settings.

The whole thing seemed kind of erratic to me so I factory reset the SPA and redid the same configuration items over again and it works perfectly now.

Just wanted to post that in case anyone came along looking for answers.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved.
