Getting phones provision from distributor

Quick question. We are purchasing yealink phone with our distributor and would like them to come provisioned. They claim they are able to do this but i'm un clear with how to get the phones working with 3CX while it's hosted in the the cloud Azure? What does 3CX needs to provision these phones to the cloud?
 
How are you going to provision the phones - local lan (site to site vpn required), sbc or stun ?

if using stun, all phones will require different sip ports and rtp ports (block of 12), and port forwarding setup on the router to point the traffic to the correct phone IP address (phones need fixed IP address)
 
Thanks for replying. The 3CX server is hosted in Azure and we would like the phones to have the url for the 3CX so when they are plugged into the network they will connect, this will go via HTTPS.
 
That doesn't really answer the question. All remote phones (STUN or SBC) provision via HTTPS. But the voice traffic is handled differently. The distributor isn't doing anything magical. They are just doing what you would normally do, they are just doing it before it goes in box. So figure out how you would provision the phones and then you tell them how you want it. It might be easiest just to have the make sure the phones are on a required firmware and then when you add them in 3CX let RPS take care of the rest.
 
If by HTTPS you mean that phones connect directly to the 3CX PBX without the use of an SBC then you are using STUN. In that case the distributor should send you the MAC addresses of the phones so you can add them in the management console. Once you add them the PBX will send an RPS request to the Yealink RPS server. Once the user plugs the phone in, the phone will contact the RPS server and get its config file. The user will be asked for their username and password. The username is the extension number and the password is the voicemail pin. The phone will then reboot and the setup will be complete.
The RPS request expires after 2 weeks.

It is also recommended to increment the ports for each device and port forward them on the firewall in front of the phones.

The Yealink RPS server is managed by Yealink so where is hosted is really a question for Yealink. Every phone manufacturer has it's own RPS server.

The RPS server from distributor is nothing special. I contacted Yealink directly once upon a time and got a log in so I could manage RPS myself for another phone system. Basically in the RPS you stick in the MAC address and specify the URL of the provisioning server.

As Yiannis said - in the case of 3CX when you configure a phone with STUN, 3CX sends this info to RPS server as noted in the event log of 3CX:

and then does the rest as mentioned. I would recommend an SBC always when using more than one phone. Experience tells me setting up port forwarding etc for multiple STUN phones is a boring and uneccessary task.

I think you are getting slightly confused on this as Yealink is not a distributor. The OP is talking about someone like 888VoIP who distributes phones to resellers. Most distributors will offer a service for a couple bucks a phone where they will prep the phones before drop-shipping. This can be something like making sure the phone firmware is at a certain level, pre-provisioning the phone, stuffing a brochure/welcome sheet/e911 sticker in the box, etc.
