Gigaset S4 Professional DECT, will it work ?

Hi there,

My customer has old Siemens HiPath 3500 PBX and due to system being quite old and starting playing up a bit, he would like to replace it with some modern PBX, but he ideally wants to retain the current DECT Gigagset S4 Pro handsets.

I would like to know have you ever come across this phones and do you know if by any chance it is possible to use them alongside with 3CX ? Currently the phones are connecting to the UNIFY S5 Base Stations, but I'm pretty sure if this can work with 3CX these bases would need to be swapped over with something compatible with box DECT phones and 3CX.

BTW, I know that these handsets have a USB port, which might be the key to making them working with some other DECT bases..

Hi Mike,

The only models supported are the ones found here

You would need a Gigaset SIP Base like the N670 for example, but according to Gigaset's compatibility list those handsets are not supported. Even though they are DECT-based, your handsets might not even be able to pair with it.

If you want to ensure you have trouble-free operation you should best stick with their supported model pairs, because those devices might not even be able to pair with the Gigaset N-series base.

You could take one handset and attempt to "add" it to another, "3CX compatible" Gigaset base, if you know someone that has one handy. If you are planning to move to 3CX anyway, and wish to continue with cordless handsets, then you will probably purchase one of the other Gigaset systems and can test on that. It's not going to hurt to see if the handset will register and may save you the cost of some additional handsets. Even if it does sem to work, however, you may not have all features available.
