I'm trying to do backups to Google Drive. This is a new installation so the backups are only 7MB. I have 15GB available on Google Drive. I can do manual backups just fine, but the automatic backups fail. It's tried to do 2, but both have failed with this error message. I have read several other threads that others have had this issue without resolution but I'm sure it must be working for most. My installation is currently on an Amazon Lightspeed server so I'm sure the data connection to my Google Drive is very fast.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3CX Phone System tried to backup but failed due to the following reason(s):
The service drive has thrown an exception: Google.GoogleApiException: Google.Apis.Requests.RequestError
Rate Limit Exceeded [403]
Errors [
Message[Rate Limit Exceeded] Location[ - ] Reason[rateLimitExceeded] Domain[usageLimits]
]

And if you read those threads you would see that the error message is a Google error message as far as the rate limit. I've never had this issue myself but I try to schedule backups at non-standard times and typically have unique accounts per instance.. The fact that you are on Lightsail (not Lightspeed) doesn't matter as the error isn't that it's too slow.

Try adjusting the time of your scheduled backup.

I'll give it a try. I have it trying to backup now at 2AM ET so I thought that was an off-time but I'll try something different as that's obviously not working.

Thanks for your help!

Hi sjarrell

You can also try using another Google Account as a test, if you exceed certain limits they set they might respond with those errors (likely as an anti-abuse strategy).

That's the weird thing. There's only one user on this account and there's no other activity going on..... none. These are also the only files on the Google Drive.

I changed the time to 5:30AM and the same thing happened this morning. Automatic backups fail 100% of the time. Manual backups work 100% of the time.

I take that back. The backup at 5:30AM this morning DID work. I was looking at the wrong email notification.

Thanks!
