Hi all. I'm having a challenge trying to get a Grandstream GXP1780 phone to provision. I have a handful of Fanvils and Yealinks on the system, so I don't think it's a problem with the network or firewall.

The firmware is updated to 1.0.1.89
For the autoprovisioning, the phone does not boot up twice as detailed and ask for the user/pass
When performing the manual provisioning option, the configuration is also unsuccessful.

Any ideas?

When the device is added in Phone Provisioning, make sure the Event Log on the Dashboard has the message "RPS request successfuly sent for GXP-1780...". You can force it by simply changing it to Local provisioning then again to Direct SIP (STUN). The request should be sent when you click OK.

If it's an error, then the MAC address might be bound to a GAPS account or is invalid.

Thanks for the message back. I did get the RPS request was delivered successfully. Provisioning is still failing on the phone though after reboot. Is there a way to determine if the MAC Address is the issue?

Contact Grandstream via the help desk.

Before that:

  • did you give time to the phone to reboot? it can take up to 5-10 minutes. It will reboot once to load the RPS config, ask for credentials then reboot again to get the new config.
  • did you factory reset the phone after upgrade? That is a necessary step so the phone connects to RPS automatically.
  • do you have any Option 66 in DHCP set? It could interfere with the RPS server.

Hi. I just wanted to give an update here. I provisioned the phone from home with no issue, so it must be a DHCP issue in the office. Once provisioned, the phone itself works fine in the office.
