Solved Grandstream GXP2170 auto provision (not showing up in Phones)

I cannot get these Grandstream GXP-2170 phones to auto provision and show up in 3CX -> Phones for the life of me. Here's all the details.

The phones are running the 3CX recommended firmware 1.0.9.102
Using EdgeSwitch 48 500W L3 switch, enabled IGMP snooping for multicast to work
I have verified multicast configuration on PBX per 3CX for Linux using netstat -d (Response ens192 1 sip.mcast.net)

I have done a packet capture from phone and it's sending out the request it appears as LLDP_Multicast. From the PBX server I did a packet capture and didn't see anything coming from the phone at all.

The phone and PBX are on the same network 192.168.2.0/24 (PBX 2.2, phone 2.14) No firewall between them.

Any help is much appreciated, as I've exhausted every other thread with this problem and can't find a solution.

Try running the firewall checker. If that doesn't work to reboot if you haven't already.

Also, sounds like you followed this already although you mentioned running netstat -d instead of netstat -g

I don't use the Edgemax series but PnP works out of the box on the UniFi line. Don't know if they start different base configurations.

Oh and make sure the phones aren't blacklisted (I'd white list the subnet) and run a capture to see if the PnP request is reaching the box.

i ran the firewall checker, fixed some things, and it all checked out. I've already rebooted the PBX also. That is the guide I followed, and -g is the option I used, that was a typo. I thought it should have worked out of box on this series also, but I was reading up on multicast in the documentation and it says to turn on IGMP snooping. It didn't work with it off, and it didn't appear to change anything after turning it on. There's gotta be something I'm missing. In one of the forums I read that a whitelist entry should be created for the VoIP network, which I've already done. Not sure at this point what I'm missing.

Honestly sounds like you are doing it all right. Try installing the 3CX soft client on a PC on the same network unless you have a different brand phone available just to rule that out. Or maybe even a dumb switch (if you have a PoE adapter). Is 3CX on bare metal or a VM?

I can try the soft client. It's running as a VM.

So from everything I found, IGMP snooping doesn't need to be configured other than if you want to make it more efficient. I disabled it.

After much troubleshooting with Wireshark and playing with ESXi networking.. I was able to get it working. Enabling promiscuous mode on the entire vSwitch is apparently needed, since it's technically a trunk with the physical switch. I had it turned on for the VM network only previously, which seemed to work fine.
