Am in Canada and using 3CX with 2 GXW4104 gateways and 8 lines from Rogers. The service comes in on cable and is converted to Analog by two Arris TM604 modems (4 lines on each). The analog lines are connected to the GXW4104 gateways which are provisioned through 3CX.

Most callers show up as (unkown) in 3CX, however some do come through with CID/name.

I have tried changing Number of Rings Before Pickup incrementally from 1 to 10;
I'm using Bellcore/Telcordia CID Scheme;
CID Transport Type is 1 - Relay via SIP From

Thank you for taking the time to review this and I hope someone can help.

If some are getting through, then it may be an issue on some of the lines only. I would get out a stand alone caller Id box (or analogue set with a caller ID display) and make a test call through to each line coming from the Arris Box. Caller ID (Bellcore type) is sent between first and second ring so you should not have to set to more than two or three rings to "collect" the number. If you don't get a number on all lines, then speak to Rogers, it may be that one of the boxes is misconfigured.

Thank you Leejor. We have connected an analogue phone to the lines and made several test calls which did show caller ID but in truth we did not test all the lines. We did have a telco tech come onsite to review line configuration and performance, conducted a few tests himself and found no issue with their configuration.

As you advised, I've scaled back the rings to 3 to collect the number. Unfortunately I am working on this remotely so I have limited ability to connect/test each line personally.

You need to narrow down where the issue is...Provider, Arris boxes ,Gateway. or 3CX. Since some seem to work, it is probably not 3CX, and there is probably one setting in the gateway for the entire trunk group, so if some work, and a number is being sent, then all should behave the same way. That leaves the provider (caller Id feature on every line?), and the settings in the Arris boxes. You really need to confirm if there is caller ID being sent on each of the lines.

I don't know about Canada, but can't imagine it is any different but where I am you need to pay an added fee for caller id on most lines offered.

If you can narrow down what @leejor has advised it maybe worth checking a bill or with the provider.

Yes, caller ID, while sometimes bundled, is usually an additional cost. You still need to narrow down which lines it is coming in on (since it seems to work at times, on some?), and which ones it is not. Then go back to your provider.

@leejor I have tested each of the lines and Caller ID is operational from the provider.

There is something unusual happening with port 4 on each of the gateways; for some reason calls on those ports always show up as Uknown. I have tried switching phone likes in that port to confirm this behaviour is replicable.

I've enabled Debug to my Syslog and can see

FXO_CID: PORT: 1 Detection Failed. Error code: 11

I have some other testing to do, such as when an inbound call rolls to the next line in the Queue when the first is engaged to determine whether that impacts caller ID for calls that normally display fine.

We certainly have it and have discussed this with our provider. A valid consideration.

So...you have determined that the last line out of each Arris box is not sending caller ID? If that is that case, then the next step it to talk to your provider and ask them why this is happening.

No, sorry that's not what is happening. Port 4 on the Grandstream, regardless of which phone line is attached, is not reading caller ID. I had line 123 in port 1 and 456 in port 4. Line 123 showed caller ID but 456 did not. I swapped them so 456 was in port 1 and 123 was in port 4. After the swap, 456 showed caller ID but 123 did not. Grandstream configuration is applied the same to all ports.

It may be a faulty Gateway, but before considering that , I would do a "factory reset", then re-provision. Be certain that the firmware is also up to date
