I have a site that is on-prem at the moment but will soon be migrated to cloud. In preperation we are configuring the phones to route through an SBC. We have had no issues thus far except for when configuring a Hotdeskphone to route via a router phone. Both devices are Yealink t-54w and both are up to date with firmware... any ideas?

Hello @plasticgremlin if your system is running sp7 then Hotdesking is not enabled on Router Phones. You will need a dedicated SBC for this case.

The next update sp8 will include router phones for hotdesking provisioning

Hello Alejandro_3CX. Customer On-Premise 3CX is V.18.0 Update 8 (Build 939). We have tried to provision a yealink SIP-T57W as a router phone and as a hotdesking phone at the same time. However, we cannot find a way via the Admin or Webclient Admin Console. Is the feature not yet available in SP8? Thx!

Please note that Hotdesking is not available for provisioning a router phone.

Sorry, but I probably don't understand your answer correctly: On the mentioned 3CX, 3x Yealink T46S are successfully running as hotdesking phones behind the T57W with the role as SBC router.
But my real question is whether there is a method (or whether it is planned) whereby the T57W itself can also be operated as a hotdesking phone, additionally? So not "behind" the SBC router phone, but "on" the SBC router phone itself? Thx.

So the same device that is a router phone will also be used as hotdesking on itself?
I'm afraid this is not possible.

Ok, I suspected this, but your sentence "The next update sp8 will include router phones for hotdesking provisioning" gave me hope that I had overlooked this possibility.
Presumably it is not realized because a hotdesking login on the router phone will trigger a re-provisioning that will restart the SBC for a short time and thus disconnect all open calls on the other devices on site? With this customer, however, this would be tolerable due to the size of the team on site, because the situation mentioned is very unlikely to occur.
But perhaps that would be a feature that could be implemented in an upcoming update? Unfortunately, I now have to procure a separate SBC solution for the customer.
Thx!

As you understand the Hotdesking will also require a reboot of the phone and of course connection will be dropped.
In this case an on-premise SBC is the solution.
