Solved How Do I Access my 3CX PBX Locally using FQDN

Hello community,

I have been trying to access 3cx locally using FQDN but it doesn't work.
When I use local IP it works.

How do i resolve that.

Are you trying to access the external FQDN from another local PC on the same network as the 3cx system? If so you need to have an internal DNS server with split DNS configured for the external FQDN pointing to the internal IP of the 3cx system machine.

I have done that, it doesn't seem to work

If you try to ping the FQDN does it response with the correct internal IP address

If it doe not, them the spilt DNS is not configured correctly

It is also possible that the IP is cached on your local PC. Try the following from a DOS command window:

ipconfig /flushdns

Then try pinging again. An alternative (albeit a less elegant solution than suggested by @Charles_3CX) is to update your host file. That is not really recommended.

To update this, as a ticket was opened with us at tech support, once split DNS was set up on the Domains DNS servers, that the PCs had as their primary DNS, it started to work and could access via the external FQDN from the network computers.

Worked finally. I had configured DNS on the 3cx server instead of my DC server
