The current Server is Windows Embeded (Pint Server) with 3cx v15.5, and i would like to migrate to new Windows 10 (VM virtual box) with 3cx v16.

I perform full backup of 3cx v15.5 and saved as 3cx.backup.zip (8.5GB), and install 3cx v16 into windows 10, and restore backup file but error message "invalid backup file" appear.

Please advise how to backup the 3cx v15.5 (full backup) and and restore to 3cx v16.

appreciate your help on this

Can you open the file outside of 3CX using 7-Zip , Winzip ?

Ok the backup should be compatible then with V16. 7zip has a TEST button, you can press it to ensure the archive is not corrupted.

Please make sure you do not modify/rezip the original file, it is important than it remains untouched in the same way that the V15.5 produced, otherwise the modified backup night not be read decompressed by the PBX.

You can also try making a backup without the recordings via 15.5 and bring the recordings in later if necessary. Looks like the file the installer wizard receives is not legible at the moment.

Not sure why this happens, in your case.. Looks like the file get corrupted during the upload phase, but I cannot be sure. Are you using Chrome?

Create your backup without the recordings, just include the voicemails and then restore the system.

I can explain a method to transfer the recordings later but do it before you take any new calls:

  1. Copy old recordings folder contents to new system's Recordings folder (exactly as is)
  2. Go on new system, find settings, then parameters
  3. Press +Add to insert a new parameter called RECS_SYNC_REQUIRED and set its value to 1
  4. Go back to dashboard and click the button that says convert recordings
