Hi
We receive a lot of calls that we want to block.
The numbers changes often (seems to come from a IP app that automatically changes the calling numbers).
So it make no sense to try to block the calling numbers - I want to block the IP address(es).
But in the call log, only the calling phone number is showed.
How can I get the IP address behind the call (so that I can blacklist it)?
How to configure the call log, so that also the IP address is logged or where to get the IP address behind the call?
Thanks

So are these calls coming straight into your SIP port on your PBX and they're hitting a call route somewhere which is making them ring?

Unless you want direct SIP calls to work, I would limit inbound connections to traffic coming from your SIP trunk providers only and use the 3CX Tunnel for any remote extensions.

Are you port forwarding to your STUN phones? You'll have to restrict IP to the IP of your PBX is this is the case otherwise you'll get ghost calls.

Hi Fredy

Can you first confirm whether the calls are reaching the trunk from your provider? You cannot block the IP in that case, you will lose all incoming calls. Some providers offer spam-blocking services that can help in this case.

On the other hand, if the calls don't reach the trunk at all but instead reach the phones directly, then it may be a matter of firewall settings or using supported phones that do not accept Direct SIP

Hi John and others
Yes, I can confirm, that the calls are coming over the trunk of the provider (they are looking like "normal calls").
So that are not "ghost calls" - the callers say, the are from Microsoft (I think you have heard from this calls ..?)
As I wrote, they change the calling number very often.
So there is really no chance to find out the IP to the call and then block it (it's hard to believe for me)...?

The calls are legit and coming from your provider. Your provider's IP is the only one you can block.

That would stop the trunk from working altogether, so you can't solve the problem by blocking an IP if you know what i mean

do you have a lot of calls like that? perhaps you can do a restriction for foreign incoming calls

If it is so bad as to "disrupt" your normal call flow, you may want to consider screening all calls using an IVR (if this is to a "main" number).

Many companies have resorted to this. Of course, it's not going to work that well if calls are direct to DID numbers.

I have searched the internet for the number and found a lot of "Microsoft" postings (also e.g. in Germany).
It seems as the calls came from a call center on Bermuda...
So.. I ended up to add the country number 00441* in the blacklist and hope that it works (as we have no contact to anybody on Bermuda;.)
Thanks anyway for the answers...

Unless it has changed, the number blacklist matched from the last digit to the first by number of digits. I wasn't aware there was a wildcard.
