I've just upgraded a v18 Debian VM to v20. With v18 I could log on with SSH as root and power off the VM. But after the upgrade I'm no longer allowed to login with SSH. But it also means that I have no means to safely poweroff the machine since there is just a Restart button on the Dashboard. No Poweroff.
Has someone figured out how to do this? Please note that a hard poweroff thru VM host is not an option as that might corrupt filesystem.
Removing the ability to login to root has an additional side effect. It's not possible to install VM Tools required for the VM host to interact with VM client.
Update: Turns out that it's still possible to login thru VM host to the local console, thus enabling ability to install Open VM Tools
