Maybe 3CX should lay off the "You need to upgrade as soon as possible and dead lines" BS when they aren't even fully released yet.

"As soon as possible..." You have enough time to upgrade until next year.

Version 20 is fully released, and even 1 update in. Update 2 is almost out. It is just the Windows version which is not ready just yet. The code for the Windows version of 3CX is the same as the Linux version. Any issues would be due to the operating system, which is what is being tested currently.

The support for Version 18, has been extended until the end of the year, so that should give plenty of time for the upgrade to be done.

I will revisit this post in January 2025 when the complaints about us not warning people enough come out, which I can guarantee will surface!

Hi, finally the 'most recent' discussion about V20 for Windows.

We are on V18 Update 9, but we are receiving emails about moving to V20 before 2nd of July to prevent loss of functionality/security. But what I understand is that there is only a Alpha V20 for Windows available, that is not ready for production yet.

So we just need to ignore the emails and wait for the production version V20 for Windows. (emails to warn us are fine, but the way they are written make readers think that the need to migrate right away, and that is not the case, since there is no installer yet).

But glad to know we are not behind the update schedule for Windows :)

True, I have been wondering why they are putting so much pressure on it yet they haven't provided everything

I'm sorry if that came off as unfriendly ... I guess I'm just frustrated. This is not how 3CX normally does a release. It is usually all or nothing and the occasional hot fix, when an issue happens to slip through or gets missed.

Amen for this article, I've been going round in circles of articles to see why the V20 Update is not avaliable in the updates section of any of our windows installs. It's there on hosted ones.

This article tells you how to upgrade but fails to mention windows is not avaliable yet: https://www.3cx.com/docs/upgrading-pbx/

The emails warning of loss of functionality are misleading. Would be better for some clarity from 3CX to mention somewhere on theor website that V20 for windows is not our yet.

Hopefully Windows version is released soon...any 3CX Employees have an ETA on this?

Also reading elsewhere that windows must have enterprise licence. This is to cover 3CX's additional costs in managing/supporting windows which must be proved here by it taking longer for a windows version.

We may start following 3CX's subtle hint to move most if not all our instances to Linux.
