If we update to “New 20.0 Final,” can we still deploy with v18 Desktop App Version:18.13.959 to continue using Hotkeys functionality?

Thank you for sharing the download preview link published in the "V20 Upgrade Checklist & FAQ."

https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v20-upgrade-checklist-faq/

https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NW77489NGJ0?hl=en-us&gl=US

We have noticed that the Hotkeys feature is not currently available in the latest update. We have two queries regarding this:

1. When exactly will the Hotkeys feature return in the next release of v20.0?
2. Is it possible to continue using v18 after the upgrade?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Good news, thank you!!! , but as for my second question.

Based on other posts, it sounds like the Desktop App will continue to function, if already set up, but there isn't a way to set up a new install. And no guarantee it works going forward.

You can still provision the Desktop App with the button for the softphone. But for how long, i dont know,

"Copy number from clipboard" is gone with the latest Desktop version. Is there any intention of bringing this Hotkey feature back?

The attached was found online. This Hotkey feature, "Copy number from clipboard," is/was top on the list of most commonly used keyboard shortcuts.

There is plenty more evidence that we are not alone here. Please bring this feature back soon.

Impossible due to Microsoft security policies for Store apps. (Privacy reasons apparently. Irony.)

I did a backup and restore to v20 and the desktop app stopped working. Having to use PWA.

Correct!

Unfortunately, I spent hours with ALL previous desktop app versions (I saved) that failed. 3CX developed into v20, making it IMPOSSIBLE to come back around and use any old versions.

In my current situation, I suspect that 3CX was aware of this issue but chose not to disclose it, possibly to avoid delays in adopting v20. I feel like I've been misled!

Now that the entire herd has been corralled and is safe from security threats, we hope the "Copy number from clipboard" will return someday.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why a feature ("Copy number from clipboard") within a Store App (3CX Desktop App) is not allowed because of "Microsoft security policies," as you mentioned. Maybe this is a naive question, but wouldn't it be more 3CX that determines this?

Could you please assist me in comprehending and expanding upon this topic?

It's considered a privacy risk - data belonging to a process (say your PayPal app) can be transferred (mistakenly or not) to a different process (3CX client) via global clipboard.

If I understand correctly, you are saying that the "global clipboard" element would pose a security risk, regardless of whether the 3CX Desktop App is delivered through the Microsoft Store or directly from 3CX. Is that correct?

Based on this understanding, can we conclude that this feature is too risky to include in the foreseeable future, as it can never be made secure enough?

Many customers do ask when this feature will be back. They feel with V20 kind of a regression in functionality. This shouldn't be the way 3CX is developing it's product. We need satisfied customers.

@büro1 this functionality has been available for quite a few months now.

Thanks for your appreciated reply. Is there a manual update neccessary for the V20 Windows client from appstore which was installed before 6 months? And which functionality has exactly been added in the meanwhile? Thanks again!

Depends. Did you install via the manual MSIX or the Store?

And even the store sometimes needs a little push to actually do the updates.
