Greetings,
I am wondering what I can do to improve call quality in 3CX. If I call someone via 3CX to their 3CX ext using softphones, the call has a lot of ambient noise. However, if I call the same person using Microsoft Teams, and we both use the same mic and speakers, the call is much clearer with a lot let background noise. Is there a setting I should be looking at or perhaps prioritize a specific codec?

Thanks!

Step 1, wireshark or verbose debug to confirm what codecs 3CX is using.
Step 2, change codec priority and then repeat step 1 to confirm it's working.

But my gut feeling is you are experiencing a combination of custom codec Teams uses (satin) at work which is probably eliminating the background noise that regular audio codecs don't do. They just transmit the sounds as they get them, background noise and all.

Which codec do you prioritize on your 3CX system?

Its also dependent on the quality of the headset. Try with an iphone or android phone, if the quality is better then its the headset, this is a big factor. The echo cancellation should be configured on the headset side. It could be that teams does this directly via the API but in our webclient you have to install the headset software separately and configure echo cancellation separately if its required.

The remote user is actually using his laptop mic and speakers using the softphone app which I tell them to never use because of noise cancellation, but I was amazed that the call quality on Teams using the same laptop mic and speakers is much clearer which made me wonder if I had my 3CX configured. I've provided him with a USB headset but he doesn't use it. :)
