I am trying to set up an incoming CID rule but the robo caller changes the CID with each call by using date and time in the CID.

the call comes from a number of different exchange codes and line numbers, not just a simple full block.

[Flow] Looking for inbound target: called=1XXXXXXXXXX; caller="V6151208000002099537" <sip:18042209671@:0>

The "V" and the "2099537" are always the same. the 6 is June, 15 is the 15th, 1208 is the time. This changes with every call they make to us.

I tried an inbound CID for V*2099537 and for V************2099537 but neither words. I did not want to use V* since we do get calls from business that start with V in the CID. The rule is at the top of the inbound rules. (All my CIDs are first, then the DIDs).

When I look at the whole call log, I tried to find their IP, but I only find mine and my trunk providers.

I know I can list the single numbers, but they are forever changing and that list would be crazy long to keep up.

Any suggestions?

You are trying to route based on the caller name? The "V" won't be in the caller ID number.

Now I am confused. All my other inbound CID are based off the section of the call marked caller= (caller="V6151208000002099537" in this case), so is that not what the CID is looking at?

I have also received similar SPAM calls, in the past, where a phone numbers is sent and the Name is VXXXXXXXXXXXXX, where X is a number. Caller ID varies from country to country, but for type II, Bellcore as used in North America, the numeric part (number display) is limited to 16 characters (4 bits), to be compatible with all display units/phones

If the calls are coming in via your providers trunk, you may want to engage them, in trying to block the calls at their end.

Thanks. I have engaged the provider and they are looking at it but I would have thought the CID could use a wild card. Guess it is a feature request.

CFA using a CFD would be worth the learn and time but not at the cost of a pro license for my small shop.
