Hi all,

We have a CRM not on the list of supported CRM's for which we initially wrote a feature to call an external number, and extention and log the call in our application log using 3CX V15

We are now needing to upgrade to 3CX V18 but there is no published API I can find for this:

What I am looking for is the exact functionality we have built in our V15 an that is detailed below:

1. We have a button we press to call client
2. Press button it takes the number for the client and the extenstion of the user
3. Passes both to 3CX the external number is called and the extension starts ringing on speaker phone
4. Client answers and we start talking to them
5. Log in out CRM call log the call was made to what number and time stamp

Seems really easy right? I have looked everywhere; can anyone assist me here?

Dont want it done for me; just cant find the relevant info that will work

Regards
James

Did you build your integration for the old Windows client? Like it's client-side?

Because there was never an "api" to make a call, just the client's 3CXTriggerCmd.

There is a MakeCall API in the Call Control API, but that is pretty ugly to invoke from a remote PC. It requires a proxy/relay (VoIPTools Relay for example).

As @ConceptsWeb mentioned, 3CX Phone for Windows has a client side plugin API, and also has an exe you can use to initiate a call (I forget the name of the exe). But 3CX does not recommend creating new applications with either the plugin API or using the exe.

Thanks for the assist on this as this was completed by a previous team and noone here has any experiance with it.

In V15 what we do is essentially use the 3cxpscompp2.dll and MakeCall and pass in the extension and the number to call.

We have done this in .Net Framework so I guess we could do the same thing using .Net Core to make this work today in V18?

Thoughts here before we commit?

That will work, the same API for making calls is still functional.

Yes, you have to move to .Net Core. We can do it in .Net 6.

Our company offers a REST API for 3CX of our own development.

Directly, 3CX itself provides a software API that only works on the server on which the 3CX PBX is installed. The 3CX software API is quite extensive, and it can be used to solve a very wide range of tasks. Our company has developed a web service that runs on the server where 3CX is installed. This service receives http requests, processes them using the 3CX programming API, and provides responses to received http requests in json format.

You can test the basic version of the proposed REST API right now. To do this, use the demo key qRQi5xQj8SvI and the description of the requests given on our website. Request URL: https://demo-pbx.3cx.ru/webapi/qRQi5xQj8SvI/.

Description of commands, including MakeCall, see our website: https://razgovor.biz/ats-3cx/rest-api-3cx. The description has been made only in Russian so far, but a little later I plan to translate it into English.

native 3cx api is "coming soon". It's already here for webmeeting.
3rd party solutions exist as well today.
