Hi guys,

I have no doubt that this issue has been discussed before.

As mentioned, I have tried getting Instance Manager up and running for my hosted PBX's (AWS - EC2 and Azure). The issue is as follows:

When I try to enable it on the client's PBX, I get the following message:

install-instance-manager returned error code 255

All outbound ports on the firewall are open and the client appears in Instance Manager but it is grey saying that it is not configured correctly and to check the outgoing ports (which are all open).

I have found a number of articles mentioning how to install instance manager but when I run it from the SSH session on the actual server, it is telling me that I need to run it as "root". Logging in as "root" does not work and nor does using the "su -" or "sudo" commands.

All instances are running v16 update 5 build 619.

Strangely, only one instance is reporting into the instance manager console in the partner portal (it too is hosted on AWS). I have compared everything on it to another instance and they are all the same (including using the same firewall).

By the way, I am not a Linux guru!

Any ideas?

Thanks, Rob.

Thanks cobaltit. I read through it and tried it all but no good. Out of desperation (and something else to try), I installed the 16.0.6.584 BETA update on my internal system and it seems to have sorted the issue. I was able to go into the Instance Manager and turn it on, then checked in the partner portal and it logged in and was green!

Just need to wait for the official release to push it out to clients.
