Good Day,

We have a series of 1-800 numbers we use for conferencing. We do not want staff using these numbers when in the building as they cost money and staff can three digit dial into any conference.

I can set a series of 1-800 numbers on Outbound Rules, but can only forward them to a SIP trunk or Bridge. Does anyone know of a way to forward to an extension?

If I can forward those calls to an extension, I can set a recording on that ext telling them to use the internal conference number and end the call. Thanks.

Outbound rules could just drop the call, when people ask you could just tell them the internal ext.

Add the external number in the SIP ID under the extension

Outbound rules are just that, for outbound calls. There are a couple of things you could do...

See my re-post of how to do a loop trunk, originally posted by SY..

Drawback is that two licences are used per call, one out, and one in.

You can also "intercept" specific numbers by making them the SIP ID of an extension. So create a dummy extension (forward where ever you want), like SIP ID 1800 5551212 (or include a prefix if needed) and the call to that number will route to an extension

We could do this, but we want to tell people why so they are educated before putting in a ticket that says the phone system isn't working. :)

Morning,

This weekend I added:

1800XXXYYYY
+1800XXXYYYY
0111800XXXYYYY
*800XXXYYYY

To the SIP as DID's, then added them all to both an extension and to an IVR as DID's and the call still went out.

I also tried the loop back SIP with the same results. I ended up clearing all of that out and just blocked the call.

Thanks for the suggestions.

If you create a dummy extension, that is in turn forwarded to and IVR (of your choice), and give that extension a SIP ID of 18005551212, then, anyone dialling that number should end up at the IVR rather than proceeding to use outbound rules. You can't do wildcards, just one phone number per dummy extension.

Not going to be a good solution for all, but, if you have a limited number of phone numbers you are trying to "intercept", then it will do the job.
