Hello,

I am trying to interconnect a 3CX system with Cisco BE6000. First, I tried to setup a bridge with 3CX as mater and the Cisco as slave with no success.

I tried to create a generic sip trunk and put one of the other party extension as Main trunk. I am able to receive call from Cisco PBX but I am unable to place outbound call to Cisco PBX. 3CX outbound rule has been created. Whenever I call the other extension, I received an error message on the hard phone "Server Internal Error". In the 3CX activity log, it shows this message : Call to T:Line:10002>>0051@[Dev:sip:[email protected]:5060] from L:4595.1[Extn:6471] failed, cause: Cause: 503 Service Unavailable/INVITE from 192.168.0.20::5060 (192.168.0.20 is the IP of Cisco PBX).

The technician configuring the Cisco PBX told me there is no log generated when i tried to place outbound calls. I am wondering if the issue is with the 3CX or the Cisco side or where should I start to investigate.

That's rather vague. What does this mean? It would not register, it would, but calls failed (as they are now)?

Does this mean that you have registered the 3CX trunk to a SIP extension from the other PBX? Is the number you are sending (0051?) valid at the other PBX?

Seems the tech other side says it was authentication issue. Change the password in the bridge section with no issue. Can't tell much.

Yes I was able to register the 3CX trunk using generic trunk. 0051 is an ext from the Cisco PBX and is able to call the 3CX system. But ext from 3CX cannot call the other PBX.

That being that case, if you used Wireshark, you could compare a call made by a set registered to the same line, calling the same number. The difference between that, and a failed call made by 3CX on the same "line" may provide some clues as to why it is failing.

Using Wireshark,

- A failed call from 3CX to the Cisco PBX gives:
Request : INVITE sip: 0051@ciscopbxip:5060
Status : 100 Trying
Status: 401 Unauthorized
Request : ACK sip:0051@ciscopbxip:5060

- A successfull call from Cisco PBX to 3Cx gives:
Request : INVITE sip: 6471@3CXpbxip:5060
Status: 180 Ringing
Status: 200 OK
Request: ACK sip:6471@3CXpbxip:5060
Request: BYE sip:6471@3CXpbxip:5060
Status: 200 OK

Please advise.

I am requesting the other technician to verify what he sees in his logs.

Determining exactly what the "401 Unauthorized" means, from the far end, should give a better idea of what may need to change.

I'm assuming that the 3CX trunk successfully registered against the Cisco extension. If that is the case, then it probably isn't a user/password issue. The Cisco may require something else when a call is placed, such as an Authentication ID

While the technician in other side is investigating, I have another question. After creating the generic trunk, calls can route to a call queue or extension. I dont see how cisco pbx can call any extension directly.

Regards.

That is one of the advantages of using a Bridge trunk. Incoming digits are handled in that same way as if dialled by an extension. With a generic trunk, not so much. You would have to set up DID routing to direct to an extension, just as you would with a trunk from a provider, unfortunately the PBX will probably not send DID information.
