I have a couple different vendor SIP PBX's that I've configured to allow the users to 4-digit dial between them. We now have a 3CX PRO system in the mix. One of our older PBX's in the mix is a 3COM NBX which I'll use as an example. I would like to 4-digit dial between 3CX and the NBX. On the NBX, if you receive an external number matching a 4-digit extension on the system .. call will auto route to that extension.
Example: Say I have DID 111-222-3333 on a PRI. Back in the day it was common to have only the last 4-digits of the DID sent to your PBX. If I had extension 3333 programmed on the NBX, no additional dial plan changes would be necessary and whoever called 111-222-3333 would automatically be routed to x3333 because the provider would only send 3333 and that matched a programmed extension.
I've used this same concept to route internally between our PBX's using established SIP trunks between the different systems. 3CX seems to handle this a little different. Using the same example above, if I have extension 3333 programmed on 3CX and I send 3333 to 3CX down an established SIP trunk .. it won't route to the extension .. unless I have also added 3333 as a DID on the SIP trunk and then add 3333 as a DID on extension 3333.
My question is this .. and it basically is just me trying to avoid a bunch of unnecessary DID clutter on the system if possible .. is there a setting somewhere that I can set where it will allow me to set a specific SIP trunk where if a 4-digit number is received that matches a 3CX internal extension .. route to that 3CX extension automatically without having to add every extension as a DID?
