iOS Home Screen Badges

When we have a missed call or voicemail, we get badges on the 3CX app on the iOS home screen, and also within their respective icons (missed call and VM) within the 3CX app. However, when switch back to the iOS home screen, the badges on the 3CX app icon disappear even though they remain within the app.

For example, after a meeting I notice that have have a missed call and voicemail. I listen to the voicemail but determine that it is something I can handle later in the day, so I Mark as Unheard to return the VM badge within the app. But those badge counts do not telegraph back to the iOS Home Screen badge on the 3CX app so it's very easy to forget that voicemail needs attention later.

This is by design:
- the home screen app badge is counting how many missed calls or missed chats you've got while app was in the background or not running.
- the in-app badges counts whole, as stored in the PBX

Understand, can I suggest a change in the way of a feature request? Having the Home Screen app badge mirror the sum of the in-app badges would provide good information to the user. Most every smartphone app works in this manner (e.g. email, messaging, etc.), so there's another argument from a consistency standpoint. Or, at the least, provide an option for this behavior.

I know it would help us to remember to return voicemails more promptly! Thank you for considering.

Another thought in the way of a consistent user experience. The 3CX for MacOS shows "home screen" app badges they way I wish the iOS app does. If have a badge showing on the 3CX home/desktop app on the 3CX MacOS application, open the app and close the application window, the home/desktop badges do not disappear.

The purpose was the following: looking at the badge is difficult to remember if last time was 3274 or 3278, while knowing is was empty is much easier to figure out you got 4 new meantime.

If someone keeps a large number of unattended to items, I totally get that. But many of us keep our unveiwed/unheard items at zero so a red badge with any number is a sign to take care of business. I'm just taking a guess, but I feel like a big percentage, if not the majority, of end users operate this way. I do admit I have seen people's phones with a crazy 3 or 4 digit badge count on their email or messages, so I know those people are out there.

There were also inconsistencies occuring, like if other clients - notably WebClient - were open at the moment notification arrived, but no need to re-discuss here.
