Live Chat & Talk (via WordPress plug in and using code generator) or directly via https://DOMAIN.3cx.us/callus/#queue works great on desktop browsers!

However we have been unable to get it to work in any usable fashion on iOS and Android devices. Phones appear to open the client, but tablets (at least my iPad) report "server stopped responding". Everything from size of the chat box, needing to hit return vs done, video call starting but disappearing, changing tabs closing the connection, etc.

Here are two other unresolved threads on this topic from earlier this year:
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/mobile-interface-with-click2chat.71960/
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/callus-js-not-working-with-mobile-browsers-3cx-16-0-493.70168/

Has anyone gotten this to work on a mobile device? Does it work as well as Clearly there is a on/off selector for supporting mobile on both the WP plugin and the Code Generator. So one would presume that this means the developers intended for it to work. Or does it mean they don't think it will work? From our evaluation it looks like all the issues are within callus.js. Is there any status on the development or a code repo of the javascript we can fork?

We need our platforms to be "mobile first" so it essential to have a good solution on mobile devices. We'd be very happy if the mobile was close to the desktop experience for this.

Hello @iradave ,

Let's get your points one by one.

1. Phones appear to open the client, but tablets (at least my iPad) report "server stopped responding"
When do you get this behavior?

2. Everything from size of the chat box, needing to hit return vs done
Can you please explain this one?

3. Video call starting but disappearing
Try the latest version of WordPress published yesterday.

4. changing tabs closing the connection
This is also the case on desktop. If you navigate to different page, on the website where you have the plugin installed, you will get a refresh of the connection. This is a known issue that we hope that we will solve on upcoming updates.

Hi Constantinos -

Thanks for your reply. I've updated to Live Chat & Talk WP plugin v 1.7.1 and retested everything

1. iPad appears to be working now.
2. Size of the text chat text box on my iPhone X (iOS 13.5.1) looks like this:
IMG_4096 r.jpg

Very hard to read, see icons, etc. Need to zoom around to use and I doubt that will be obvious for most users.

And if you start entering text it looks like this:
IMG_4099 r.jpg

And you need to hit "Return" to send the message. If you hit DONE without hitting return this is what you get:

IMG_4101 r.jpg

Basically your text is there but it isn't obvious that it hasn't been sent. And there is no "send" key at this point. You need to bring the keyboard back up to hit return. Not typical iOS behavior.

The other points I will cover in the next message.

@Constantinos Constantinou - cont'd

3. With video. On two iPhone X (iOS 13.5.1) the video call starts but on the iPhone (visitor side) the video is frozen. The audio works. And on the agent side the video feeds are working correctly. Here is what we saw on the iPhone:

IMG_4098 r.jpg

And since you needed to Zoom in to hit the Video Call icon, when the call connects you just see a white screen. You need to Zoom back out to see the video windows - if you know to look for them.

Good news is the iPad (also running 13.5.1) appears to be working. However not the iPhones.

These same issues occur when using the Javascript called by xxxx.3cx.us/callus/#xxxx

4. Okay - understand the issue.

Thanks for your help on this. Hopefully you can solve the video issues (#3) which are the biggest blocker for us.

Thanks,

Ira

Hello @iradave and thank you for the detailed input.

We hope that soon you will get a glimpse of the updated user interface of the Live Chat with the optimized mobile experience.

Those issues that you mentioned we are aware and that's why we are planing for significant changes in the UI.

Thanks @Constantinos Constantinou. Glad to hear there are improvements planned.

For planning purposes what is "soon"? this week, this month, this quarter, this year? We need to roll out our platform in the next week or so... Don't need an exact date but a rough timeframe to decide if we can wait. Thanks!
