Hello,

we have an instance in AWS that its currently running 3CX version 16.0.5.619 to v18,
when i tried to updated it only gives me an option to upgraded to 16.0.5.622

would it be easier to just deploy another vm with v18 on it and restore from backup?

You need to apply all the v16 updates before you are presented with the v18 update. Also only backups from v16 update 8 (or v18) are supported to restore to v18.

Hi,

note that in order to upgrade to v18, your 3CX System must be on the latest service pack of v16 (16.0.8.9). So once you successfully update on the latest SP of v16 you will then see the option to upgrade to v18.

Make sure to take a full backup before proceeding with the upgrade!

As CentrexJ correctly mentioned, you can only achieve this using a backup from a PBX running the latest v16 SP.

got it, so it seems that the update is not going through at this point. I do get this message "The 3CX services need to be stopped during the update. Management Console will be unavailable during this time. An email will be sent to the Admin after the update is complete. Do you want to proceed with the update?" and i click on yes but nothing happens, is there any other way to update?

Did you get an email that the update failed ? Also have you tried upgrading after a reboot ?

no email, reboot the whole vm directly from aws console.

Can you ssh into the machine and run apt-get update and see if there are any errors regarding repos ?

Can you provide us with the content of /etc/apt/sources.list file ?

@gcardenas084 you get these errors for permissions because you are admin and not root.
Try as root.

We are running a Windows version of 3cx and have been on 16.0.8.9, and I have yet to see the v18 update show up in our console. i was just thinking it was because its a major update, i would have to backup, uninstall, reinstall, restore just like when i went from v15.5 to v16.

Correct - that's how you upgrade major versions for the Windows edition
