Hello, I have an issue on my website where clients using the chat often mistake the 'x' button in the top right corner for minimizing the window, but it ends the session instead, and we can only reach out to them via email afterwards. Is there a solution for this, perhaps disabling that 'x' somehow, or preventing clients from ending the session? I would greatly appreciate any help.

Hey, Dawidwgd
To prevent accidental session endings in 3CX:
  1. Train users on proper system usage.
  2. Adjust user permissions.
  3. Enable a confirmation dialog.
  4. Adjust session timeout settings.

So with "2.Adjust user permissions" can we turn off that x button?. Where I can find that option? or enabel confirmation dialog?

Due to this accidental session ending, I had to turn off the chat on the site, but if there's something that can be done about it, I'll be able to turn it on again! Great :)

Where can I find the "Enable a confirmation dialog" option for the client before ending the session after pressing the "X" button? Currently, after pressing "X," the message "Your session has ended. We invite you to contact us again!" is displayed.

There is no way to change the behaviour of the X button.

(Cheeky) suggestion...

Thank you for the quick response. So, it seems that enabling this option is not possible :( I think that setting the message "Don't press X next time" is quite unprofessional... :( I noticed that on other chats of this type, after pressing the "X" button, a confirmation dialog appears asking if you are sure you want to end the session. I believe you should consider implementing such a feature. My client is very frustrated with the constant session terminations and doesn’t want to use this chat, even though everything else is great.

Unprofessional yes, thats why I put it in as a "cheeky" suggestion. It's Friday, it was a bit of humour that probably got lost in translation.

That's totally my sense of humor, LOL!
Even though it's "unprofessional", as a customer seeing that would crack me up and definitely put a smile on my face. xD

I understand that your post was mainly humor at us, honestly, I would do it!
Let's not forget that visitors are human and... :p
I've rarely seen someone who doesn't appreciate humor. Yes, it's a limitation, but when you can't change the behavior of something, humor, in my opinion, remains a beautiful way to transform an "unpleasant" situation into a lighthearted one.

It's a great pity, and I eagerly await the implementation of this feature so that I can introduce the chat to my clients. As I mentioned, everything else is great, but I am surprised that you don't see this as a serious issue. When there are more conversations happening on the chat, sessions start to end abruptly, leading to overall chaos...

Listen, if I press X on a web browser window, it closes without asking for confirmation.

If I press "end call", it hangs up without asking for confirmation.

If I press the power button on my TV, it turns off without asking for confirmation.

We're talking about an "X" button here—what does the user expect?
Do they expect the chat session to minimize?

You mention that this is a major problem that can cause chaos.
Do you realize there are worse situations in life? Think about it; there are people in hospitals connected to machines that help them breathe! That's critical! Guess what? If someone presses "POWER" on that machine, it turns off without confirmation, and the person can die! So, next time before you conclude that there's a serious problem that could cause chaos, maybe you should think about people who are actually in critical situations.

If it's truly a problem for you that customers are pressing "X" during a chat session, then sell systems to reach the Gold partner level, demonstrating that you are a serious partner. After that, post your suggestion in the ideas category !

Your forum user account isn't even linked to a partner... start there.
Show that you are a serious partner.

If 3CX adds a confirmation mechanism, that's great, but personally, I'm far from believing that we are in a chaotic situation where a missing feature would cause a major loss of customers.
